BF Goodrich has issued multiple tire recalls over the years (2005-2015), primarily involving commercial light truck tires in which the manufacturer recalled more than 980,000 tires. Notable instances include:
After an internal audit revealed a quality control process flaw in 2005, 20,000 BF Goodrich tires were recalled. Tires were made from separate casts that didn't have tread wear indicators. In February 29 - August 19, 2004, Michelin's Opelika, Alabama facility produced land terrain tires with the P235/75R15 profile, primarily for SUVs and trucks.
Affected tire models were LT 245/75 R16 120 Q LRE and LT 235/85 R16 120 Q LRE, with production dates between April 2010 and July 2012. These tires were commonly found in commercial vans as well as light trucks.
There were 129,000 tires recalled in 2015, of which 104,000 were recalled in the US. This recall was due as a result of poor manufacturing, BF Goodrich Commercial T/A All-Season 2, BFGoodrich Commercial T/A All-Season, and BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A tires were recalled. Light trucks as well as commercial vans were once again impacted.
Recalls demonstrate the company's efforts to address manufacturing defects that could compromise safety, although no major incidents were linked to these issues. BF Goodrich worked closely with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to ensure the recalls were executed efficiently.
